Bike Ride-1 - Happy ending at ECP

End of ride!

Words not needed!

Bike Ride-1 - Sun Plaza Park to ECP

One of the very useful signs that tell you where you are.... very far from the Finish line!

Where's that very useful sign?

Some of us had to risk life and limb as the actual route was too difficult ...

... ie you have to carry your heavy bike up and down this overhead pedestrian bridge.

We were coming from the other side. Couldn't see the track as it was obstructed by this truck.

Some appropriate signage AND stiff enforcement would certainly help.

Bike Ride-1 - Loyang Park Connector

A short distance more to go ... ... aaargh!

Dangerous !

These two signs were great! Trying to figure them out made us stop and rest!

The figure in this one tells us to dismount and push bike to the right where there's no path! while the 'pointy' top of the sign tells us to carry on along the curving path.

But actually, the PCN route is across the zebra crossing and onto the traffic island on the left, and then across the road.

Here is where we had to stop and rest again because of this sign.

The little figure requires us to dismount and push bike across the street, ie to the right. The 'pointy' part of the sign tells us to do that going straight ahead.

They were helpful signs; they made us stop and rest.

Bike Ride-1 - Changi Park Connector

This very short stretch was beautifully cool and shady.

However, it was a little uphill where some of us tended to sway left and right and almost came in contact with wall and sign.

This was the narrowest part of the Connector. And a very dangerous part.

Really ridiculous.

And more dangerous obstructions here.

Nice thick cool shade at Changi Beach Park.

This was taken after lunch at the Changi Village food centre nearby that's reknown for its nasi lemak. beef kwayteow and chyetowkway.

Ah, yes, make sure you've got a chain and lock to secure your bikes when you go separate ways to the different stalls. It's a long long way back to the ECP bike rental shop.

Bike Ride-1 - Coastal Park Connector

This Connector links ECP to Changi Beach Park. It runs paralletl to the road. Cannot see the sea which is quite a distance away as the reclaimed land is very wide, besides being very closely planted with Casuarina trees.

This is the view towards Changi Beach Park which is about 1.5 km down the road.

That's KiatPin who was one of the constant front riders. Click on photo to enlarge it to see his happy face and whether he's giving you the thumb or finger.

Suzanna on her own as the others are too slow for her.

One of the many helpful signs on the PCN.

This one seems silly in that the text is appropriate for you as you're on the 'correct' side ie left side, which is also the side where joggers are guided by the 'shoes' icon to keep to ie on their right!

Wish NParks would put some thought into the details of their work.

Sisters Ann and Suzanna have won the concession for the bicycle kiosks and stations along the PCN (eastern). Their first kiosk, at Area "C", East Coast Park, will open for business at end April 2008.

Bike Ride-1 - PCN (east) - 10 Jan 2008

MohdNoor had to call it a day after a few kilometres. It wasn't an easy run in the park if you hadn't ridden much for over 50 years!

This shot and the next is of the little stretch between ECP and the Changi Coastal Road section of the PCN (Park Connector Network). It is one of the least crowded areas. Great for getting away from it all.

You can visit this canalside stretch easily. Just drive to this road (forgot the name, but you can easily find it in the street directory). It's very calming and, not another person in sight! Great!
